More about the exhibition
This important collection of dinosaur fossils will be on loan from the Institute of Vertebrate Palaeontology and Palaeoanthropology (IVPP) in Beijing and the Long Hao Institute of Geology and Palaeontology Inner Mongolia.
The exhibition will feature a variety of giant skeletons as well as smaller bird-like dinosaurs and will tell the newly-understood story of how birds evolved from dinosaurs. Recently-discovered specimens that have until now only been shown in China, will be accessible in the UK for the first time. Specimens will include Gigantoraptor, the largest bird-like dinosaur ever found (featured on the BBC’s documentary series Planet Dinosaur), and Yi qi, the bat-like flying dinosaur discovered as recently as 2015.
Dinosaurs of China is expected to attract around 100,000 UK and overseas visitors to Wollaton Hall and 20,000 visitors to Nottingham Lakeside Arts. The exhibition is exclusive to Nottingham and will not be seen anywhere else in the UK. As such, it has already secured significant media and public interest with press coverage on BBC East Midlands News, Central ITV News, BBC Radio Nottingham and the Nottingham Post.
